Welcome to Year 4! This will be an important year for your child, as they grow in confidence and competence before moving into Upper Key Stage 2 next year. We will be working hard to improve our reading inference skills, and continuing to apply our problem solving and reasoning skills in maths. Our current topic 'I am Warrior!' will provide us with lots of opportunities for both fiction and non-fiction writing, which we will be posting examples of regularly on our class page! Not only will we get to learn about the history of Britain, but we will also explore the power of the Roman Empire and test out some of their traditional recipes!
Class 8's School Council representatives are Isabelle Anderson and Lucas Chadwick.
Class 7's School Council representatives are Lena Walczyk and Lewis Johnson.
Homework: Homework will be sent out every Thursday and is expected to be returned each Tuesday (or earlier). Homework returned on time will earn children 5 You’ve Been Spotteds and 10 house points. Children that do not return homework on time will complete it during break times until it is complete. Homework will consist of times tables practise and spellings practise. Children will also be expected to read at home daily – can you please make sure reading records are dated and signed each time you read at home. All homework must be completed neatly, to the same standard as work in school.
PE: This half term, PE will be on a Thursday afternoon. Children must have their full PE kit in school from the first day of term and it must remain in school for the term. All jewellery, including earrings, must be removed (not covered with a plaster). All children are expected to take part in PE lessons and forgetting a kit twice or more will result in lunchtime detentions.
Author of the half term: Our current author is 'Caroline Lawrence' who has written the Roman Mysteries series. We are currently reading 'The Thieves of Ostia'. For more information, use the link below!
Reading books: Reading books must be in school every day and your child is expected to change their reading book regularly. Children are expected to read at home daily. Please make sure reading records are dated and signed each time you read at home. Please check your child's progress and encourage them to read and change their books frequently.
