Children learn best through play and Reception builds on the learning the children have learnt in Nursery or in other pre-school settings.
The EYFS curriculum provides:
quality and consistency
a secure foundation for all children for good progress through school and life
partnerships between different practitioners
partnerships between parents or carers and practitioners
All early years providers must complete a profile for each child in the final term of the year in which they turn five. The main purpose is to provide an accurate assessment of individual children at the end of the EYFS. The profile describes each child’s attainment against 17 early learning goals, together with a short narrative about their learning characteristics.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Home school books
Please remember to work with your child each week completing their Home School Books, looking through what your child has done at school that week and then sharing some of your home experiences with us. It really helps children build their communication skills and self-confidence. Please make sure it comes back to school on a Monday so that we have time to get it ready for the Friday.
Your child will be doing PE every Wednesday. Please make sure that their PE is in school by this day. They will need a white T Shirt, black shorts and pumps they can fasten themselves! Remember to name everything.
Please remember to send in your child’s wellies as without these they cannot fully access the outside environment. The rule is ‘No Wellies, No Bikes’
Please make sure that this comes into school daily. We would really appreciate a short comment in the reading record book each time you read.
Every Wednesday your child will have the opportunity to choose a library book to share at home. Please ensure it is returned by the following Thursday to allow a new choice to be made.
Please make sure that your child is at school for 8:40 each morning and then collected at 3:15. If someone different is going to collect at the end of the day please let your child’s Key Worker know.
Snack Money - This is now due and your child’s £6 snack money allows us to supply enhanced snack on a Friday as well as baking materials. Alternatively if you would like to pay £36 for the year that would be great.
