Here at Ravensfield, we believe that physical education is an essential part of a child’s educational development. Ravensfield aims to develop a balanced program offering a variety of activities to enhance skills in physical education. Positive participation in physical education will enable children to build, self-esteem, team work and positive attitudes in P.E.
We aim to:
- Develop confidence, leadership skills and knowledge that will help the children not only in sport, but in life.
- Pursuit for excellence
- Be proud of our achievements.
- Promote fair play, respect and tolerance.
- Educate children to improve health and wellbeing.
- Provide quality opportunities for children outside of school time.
The government is currently providing additional monies by the way of sports premium, to each primary school every academic year to provide substantial sport and PE funding. The premium enables schools to establish the foundations for a sustainable strategy for a lasting physical activity legacy, by improving provision in school of school sport/PE and introducing health focused physical activity.
The PE Sports premium is jointly funded by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and is to be used in schools on increasing and improving physical education and sport for all pupils. In the 2016 budget, to help improve the health of future generations, the then chancellor George Osbourne announced the doubling of the physical education and school sport premium from £160 million per annum to £320 million per annum until 2020. Please see the link below to see how the School spent its allocation.
End of KS2 Swimming Data
Out of the 57 children, who are in year 6, 34 children can meet the end of KS2 requirements. As a result, we have decided that we would invest some of our P.E grant into this important and life- saving area.
