Learning and Outcomes Committee's Term of Reference

RAVENSFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL LEARNING & OUTCOMES COMMITTEE

The committee will consist of the number of governors chosen by the full governing body. The Headteacher (or representative) will be a member of the committee. The committee will elect a chair at the autumn term meeting. Associate governors may be serve on the committee but will not have voting rights. The quorum shall be one half of the membership of the committee, rounded up to the nearest whole number.

 

TERMS OF REFERENCE – REVIWED NOVEMBER 2017

To ensure that strategies are in place to raise achievement for all pupils

To monitor the achievements of pupils in all subjects of the National Curriculum, and in all statutory, and non-statutory areas, of school life

To set standards and monitor pupil attainment

To analyse pupil progress and achievement

To discuss and monitor improvement plans

To agree targets for attainment & progress in consultation with the headteacher

To monitor progress towards these targets especially any under performing groups

To consider the school’s analysis of all pupils achievement during the year

To monitor the progress of:

  • SEN pupils
  • Ethnic Minority pupils
  • EAL pupils
  • FSM/Pupil Premium pupils
  • CLA
  • Boys/girls

Any other vulnerable or previously underperforming group

To explore differences in outcomes between different subjects

To ensure there is reliable assessment and high quality tracking information for all learners

To consider plans for the professional development of staff

To consider termly a monitoring report on teaching & learning, including:

outcomes of lesson observations

the level of challenge for children

pupil progress in lessons

how well pupils know how to improve their work.

scrutiny of children’s work – marking, assessment and challenge

To agree further strategies for improvement in consultation with the Headteacher to incorporate in the School Improvement Plan
