Nursery children are encouraged to complete their red books each weekend and return to school on Monday. Ideas for red books can be as simple as a photograph, a receipt or a ticket. A few words about their weekend news or a picture they have drawn.
This encourages them to talk about what they have been doing over the weekend which promotes their communication and language skills, their confidence and self esteem.
We also ask that you share your child's library book with them each week, this promotes their love of story and books and shows them how books work.
As children progress through the phonics aspect of our curriculum they will receive 'reading books' it is important that you share these books with your child encouraging them to look closely at the pictures and talk about what they can see.
