Class 5 September 2015

See how the children have settled into year 3. This is what our new classroom looks like. It is bright and full of helpful things for the children. The sink has cups for them to drink water. The reading area is colourful and interesting showing information about the author of the half term.

Literacy lesson. Class 5 and Class 6 shared their last paragraph with each other in the hall. They read aloud, discussing what they liked and what could be improved

Tuesday 20th October 2015

Class assembly

This was our first assembly in Key Stage 2. The children performed various Spanish songs they have learnt, they showed art work using oil pastels to create sunsets.  Many of the children had made 'Gods Eyes' by weaving wool. Some of the children read extracts from the adventure stories they had written as part of their literacy lessons.

Static Electricity science lesson

The class were put into pairs to try out various experiments to do with static electricity. They tried to see what would happen by rubbing a balloon and putting it near a person's hair, tissue paper and sticking it on the wall. The children were amazed by the results.

Class 5 meeting Santa

We all went to the library and what a lovely surprise the children had. Who was sat there waiting for them, but Santa full of joy. All the children received a present to put under their Christmas trees.

Tesco Sprinkly Salt

The class took part in an interactive Tesco Eat Happy link-up with three other schools in the country. We discussed some science experiments we had undertaken before the link-up, plus a child asked a question and another told a fact to the rest of the schools during the broadcast. All this took half an hour on a Thursday afternoon.

Underneath is a link to watch the programme.

Ancient Greek Day

Year 3 enjoyed meeting Polynike the Ancient Greek man. The children spent a day learning all about the history of the Ancient Greeks. They took part in a play, learnt about democracy, took part in a quiz, through teamwork solved a puzzle. In the afternoon the man came out dressed as an Ancient Greek warrior. He explained all about the armour and then we took part in some Olympic games.

It was a very informative and enjoyable day.

Health and Sports Week

At Ravensfield during the week of the 20th June 2016 the whole school took part in lots of health activities and unusual sports as well as sports day.

Jenny from Tesco in Stalybridge came into school providing the children with food tasting, where the children made funny faces and then they ate the food and made comments on sheets of paper. The class also made there own muesli.
Ruth from Warburton's the bakery came into class to talk to the class about health and healthy sandwiches. Each of the children made their own sandwiches which they all enjoyed eating on the field in the afternoon.

RSPB pictures

The RSPB came into work with class 3. The children went around the school grounds looking for wild life habitats. We surveyed areas all around the school, colour coding them.
