Class 11: Miss Hague

WELCOME TO CLASS 11

Children in this class are aged between 10 and 11.

Teacher: Miss Hague

Teaching Assistants: Miss Jaques & Mr Pitman

Welcome to Class 11's homepage.

This year is a very important year but we will be having lots of fun too!

What are learning?

Our topic for the Summer Term is Blood Heart. We will be learning all about the heart and how it works. We will be looking at ways to keep our hearts healthy and discussing what causes damage to our hearts. We will be researching the work of the charity The British Heart Foundation.

PE: PE this year will be on a Wednesday afternoon. In order to take part children MUST have a full PE kit consisting of shorts, house coloured PE t-shirt, trainers (for outdoor), pumps (for indoor) and a jumper and tracksuit bottoms for the colder weather. Children will not be allowed to take part wearing football kits or football trainers. All jewellery must be removed and long hair must be tied back.

Reading Books: Children are expected to have their reading book in school every day and read at home to an adult at least 3 times a week. An adult needs to sign the reading record so the children can earn rewards for reading at home.

Homework: Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Thursday. Homework that is not brought back into school on time will be completed during break time.

Author of the half term: Our author this half term is Malorie Blackman. We will be reading the book, 'Pig Heart Boy'. Thirteen-year-old Cameron Kelsey is dying of heart disease, and time is running out to get a transplant. In desperation, his father approached transgenic doctor Richard Bryce, who is trying to conduct research with pig hearts. To Cameron's mother's chagrin, Dr Bryce agrees to perform the operation on Cameron, although it has never been done before. Will everything work out for Cameron?
